The details
Our trip to Cucutta (a Columbian city on the Venezuelan border) went well, although it turned out to be significantly longer than a 14 hour drive each way. We didn’t get away quite as early as we had hoped and we joined the peak hour traffic trying to get out of the city. Rain (virtually the entire time we were in Venezuela) also made the trip there and back much slower. We praise God that we did have a good trip, and we renewed our visas without any problem. We were particularly aware of God answering our prayer for safety passing a few accidents en-route and torrential rain on the way back. We got back into Caracas about 1:30 on Tuesday night, as you can imagine very tired.
While travelling back from Columbia Marion helped Segana revise her Science work in preparation for a test. She did the test on Wednesday and for the first time she got 100%... a vast improvement on her previous Science test where she got 0%. Yesterday Segana & Michael represented their school in an inter-school swimming carnival. Even though they both came last in their races we were so thrilled they swum the entire race (Segana 25 metres; Michael 16 metres).
Marion goes away tonight for a ladies retreat organised by our church.
Young Nam is still waiting for her passport. The delay at the moment is she needs to supply one extra passport photo… Young Nam needs to leave Venezuela next weekend to renew her visa. Pray that her passport will come before then.
The owner of our apartment has said that he is happy to renew the contract but at a higher price. Because of exchange rate differences the new figure is almost double what we have been paying. Please pray that he will agree to renew the contract at the previous rental.
