Well, what a night. 5 ½ hours racing, guest drivers, some good smashes, high drama, this race had it all (probably the only thing it didn’t have was bad weather)
We started with 10 human cars and I threw in 2 computer cars in just to fill up the grid.
After 70 odd laps of 161, CRV1 driven by Gunner & Viper had again established a lead of around 1:20 ..........when disaster struck. They were using Viper’s whoopy-doo computer (fair dinkum, this thing’s like a Boeing 747) when it just decided it needed a rest.....and blue screened, therefore requiring to be re-booted, thus kicking the leading car out of the race.
We all were feeling a little sorry, because they won last year’s event by 6 laps and were well on their way again this year, but.....as they say.....that’s racing. Their co-car, CRV2, driven by Redback & Feathers, allowed them to join in and have a 4 driver rotation on their remaining team car.
Then KrosTech2, driven by Davros & Glacius suffered a similar fate from 3rd position. Davros antivirus app kicked in at 112 laps in cruelling their chances of a podium finish.
And lastly, Pinball Wizards2 driven by Tank & Captain Oz were unable to make the pits to repair their badly damaged car and was therefore also booted from the game.
So, a fantastic time was had by all, and there’s been plenty of requests for another similar event. It is envisaged the next V8 event will be in May (30 laps each of the rest of tracks minus Bathurst and Shanghai). With all the interest, we might try to squeeze another racing event a bit sooner. Stay tuned.
I’m hoping to have one last Raw War event before the year ends, so keep watching this space.
The RAW WAR and KROSTech Top Gun Trophy title race is now very close. The scoring for the Bathurst event is as follows:
Each driver was given 2 scores which were added together. A team score depending on where they finished and an individual score depending on their lap time.
The following table shows the scores for all who have scored results this year so far. Remember that only the best racing score is added into the total.
