Time to get primed for Round 2 of Raw War 2007. In future, all Raw Wars should be 3rd Saturday of the month.

When: Saturday 24th March 2007
Where: Rivers Baptist Church, 90 Francis Rd, Lawnton
Doors open: 2:00pm
Cost: $10
BYO: network cable and powerboard (we have spares for hire $1 ea)
Pack up: 11:30pm

If you wish to use the X-Boxes, you must pre-register by emailing Wayne by Friday night. X-Boxe 360s are only for those who don’t bring a PC and we currently have 4 networked with rumble seats in arcade boxes. Games are MotoGp06, COD2 and Project Gotham Racing 3.

Finally, to assist us in keeping the grounds in good order, please do not drive your vehicles onto the grassed area unless you have more than one PC or several chairs, etc. Then please remove them to the car-park after unloading. Thanks.

Setup begins at 2:00pm with freetime until 6:00pm until pizza arrives.

6:30 – 11:30pm sees the battle for 2007 supremacy continue. If you couldn’t make Round 1 have no fear, you won’t be disadvantaged. We only record your best 3 scores all year, so with many more rounds left you have plenty of time to make your mark.

For those new to Raw War, here’s how it goes:

We allow freeplay up to 6:00pm when the pizza arrives. From 6:00pm to 6:30pm we ask everyone to gather outside for grace, food and announcements.

6:30pm We will allocate servers to contest the Individual Racing Event (V8-3).
7:30 We will split the players into teams to contest the Counter-Strike event. This event carries individual and team points.
9:15 We go back into V8-3 again for a short teams event. Join the same server as last time. This is run as a demolition derby and is quite fun.
9:45 Strategy time. You can join any strategy server that is open. The larger the server, the more points on offer.
    11:30 Pack up.

The scoresheet from Round 1 is attached, and here’s a reminder on how the scoring works:

Individual Scores
In Counter-Strike, each player’s individual scores from all games were added together to give a total score for the evening. Raw War points were then allocated by giving 1 to the lowest player, 2 to the second lowest, etc right up the highest player for the night (Giant Hippy) getting 17 points. Obviously the more players that turn up means that the winner will get more points, but then he has to beat more players as well so that makes it fair.

In V8 (3) we started off with too many players to fill one server so we created 2 servers, an A and B. The best drivers from last year were invited to join the A server. Unfortunately some computers had difficulty with the game so had to drop out after play had started.
Same scoring system applied. Last place in B server scored 1 point, second last scored 2 points, etc up to the winner of the B server (Penguinboy) getting 5 points, then last place in A getting 6 points and first place in A getting 9 points.
To allow some chance for promotion / relegation between servers, all A server points are handicapped by 2, so last in A gets reduced to 4 right up to first in A being reduced to 7. Any questions, please feel free to email me on rivers@riversbaptist.com or ask me at the next Raw War.

Team Scores
In Counter-Strike, each player’s Maps Won were added together to get a total for the evening. Then Raw War points were allocated as per normal, 1 for last, 2 for second last, etc right up to the player who won the most team maps on the night (Giant Hippy again !!!!) being awarded 17points.

We ran a bit behind time so there was no team V8 (3) event played in Round 1, but we will be better prepared for including in Round 2.
