Thailand

If you were in one of the services on 23 April you will have heard the exciting news about Brad and Mel heading off to Thailand on a short-term missions trip.
About a year ago, Brad and Mel sensed that God was calling them to get involved in missions. One year later they are preparing to join the Genesis Christian College missions team and head off to Thailand working with Mercy International.
While in Thailand, Brad and Mel will do a lot of travelling and work alongside missions, churches and children’s centres. A lot of their work will focus on the needs of children affected by AIDS.
It is a great privilege to support Brad and Mel as they take this step in obedience to God’s call. On behalf of the church here at Rivers, the board have approved a gift of $1000 to be used to bless the church and missions in Thailand. Brad and Mel’s own expenses are covered. However, I would like to invite you to consider giving a gift to support the work they will be doing while in Thailand. You can donate small things for the kids to play with such as balls, hair-ties, cards, skipping ropes, face paints, nail polish etc. Alternatively, you may wish to consider making a financial gift. This will be used to buy things while across and in Thailand to give to the children and churches. To make a gift, all you need to do is put some money into an envelope, mark it Thailand and drop in the offering between now and Sunday 4 June. We will make sure it gets to Brad and Mel.
Brad and Mel leave Brisbane on 17 June. While away they will visit cities such as Bangkok, Khorat, Khon Kaen, Phetchabun, Phrae and Chiang Mai before returning to Brisbane on 1 July.
Please pray from Brad and Mel as they continue to make preparations. I will give fuller details and an update on how things are progressing just before they head off.
Thank you and God bless,
Jim Woodrow
Director (Evangelism and Global Missions)
