Marriage Manifesto

Marriage—worth fighting for!
In September 2007 CMI’s Gary Bates attended the ‘National Strategic Summit on Marriage, Family and Fatherhood’ at Parliament House, Canberra. In recent months, he has been working with other Christian leaders and ministries on presenting the ‘Marriage Manifesto’.

When many groups are seeking to redefine the basis of marriage, this report provides concise reasons, based on research, why marriage is a social and personal good. The document has already received strong support and is expected to encourage a rethink of public policy with the objective of increasing support for marriage and families.
Of course, the family is a God-ordained institution stemming back to the book of Genesis. However, the more that people reject the Bible’s history and authority in this area, we should not be surprised that they also reject its morality.

Join those who want to preserve marriage as a godly institution
Over sixty signatories representing counsellors, educators, academics and business leaders (including Gary Bates) have already endorsed the Marriage Manifesto. They hope to see many of the ideas contained in the document implemented to effect a positive social change in our nation.

Feel free to do your own media releases and also send to friends, politicians, (particularly at a state level, where some States have been attempting to bypass recent Federal Government’s legislation that defined marriage as only a union between male and female). You could contact your localState and Federal members, send a copy of this material to him or herand let them know why marriage is important. It’s just the click of an email!
