Building in Progress
For a cross-cultural worker, the first three years are often spent learning more than actually contributing to the country. Let’s call these the “foundation years”.
We are now starting to build on the foundation of language, networks and cultural understanding. It’s great to be making some progress and seeing results.
News from the Clinic
Although Steve has been assisting some particularly difficult patients (see photo), he has also been achieving some success with the assistance of the project funds given by many of you.
Every day, Steve is assisting people who travel from all over the country to see him with pain that no-one else can manage. He is able to assist even the poorest by paying for their transport to return to the clinic for
regular treatment.
A Khmer physio from a nearby hospital is especially thankful. She has had chronic back pain ever since the birth of her first child 3 years ago, delaying her plans for more children. After only 3 treatments, her
pain was reduced by 90% and she is once again
dreaming of expanding her family.
Steve will continue to treat patients on his own until the next upgrade training course begins in February. Then he will once again begin supervising these physios as they seek to apply and refine their new skills and knowledge.
